Brocade has a long history of supporting in HPC environments with a strong focus on delivering standards-based, scalable, and power-efficient solutions with low latency and high port density for some of the world's largest research and scientific institutions. These solutions cover all networking needs of HPC environments: Ethernet interconnects for HPC clusters, I/O and storage backbones, system management, and data collaboration networks.

Innovative Networking Solutions

Brocade has been very active in leading standards bodies and has authored many of today's networking standards:

  • Fibre Channel SAN: Developed and certified over 70 percent of all standards
  • Data Center Bridging (DCB): TRILL, 802.1Qbb, 802.1Qaz, DCBX, FCoE
  • 40/100 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE)

In addition, Brocade has introduced many bandwidth and performance "firsts"

  • First to market with Layer 3 switching in 1997, followed quickly by the first 1 GbE switch
  • First 10 GbE platform in 2001, first terabit architecture in 2003, and a multiterabit MPLS and Internet core router in 2006
  • First to market with a 10 GbE FCoE solution in 2009
  • First to market with an Ethernet fabric solution in 2010
